Fall Out Boy es una banda de música pop punk, de los suburbios de Chicago, Illinois (Estados Unidos) que se formó en el 2001. El nombre de la banda se debe a un personaje de The Simpsons de mismo nombre, conocido en España como Fision Boy.

Historia

La banda se conoció en el 2001 y se han consolidado como una de las mejores en el género con sencillos como Grand Theft Autumn , Where Is Your Boy? y Saturday, registrándose en Island records en el 2003. La banda está integrada por Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Andrew Hurley y Joseph Trohman, que comparten el mismo gusto y afinidad por la música, especialmente por el rock y el Neo punk emergente.

Fall Out Boy se caracteriza por ser una banda muy original por eso se reinventa y explora nuevos sonidos constantemente.

Su primer disco es Take this to your grave, aunque previamente la agrupación lanzó dos mini álbumes o EP’s: Fall Out Boy´s Evening Out With Your Girlfriend y My heart will always be the B-side of my tongue.

El 3 de mayo del 2005 sacaron su mejor debut, From Under The Cork Tree (Island), del que vendieron más de 70.000 copias en la primera semana. Su sencillo Sugar, We're Going Down alcanzó el número 1 en MTV TRL. El video también gano el premio MTV3 en los MTV Video Music Awards. La banda fue nominada por Mejor Artista Nuevo en los Grammy Awards, pero después perdió contra John Legend. Actualmente, aumentó su fama con la canción titulada Dance, Dance y el sencillo A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More Touch Me.

Ese mismo año, la estabilidad de la banda se vio amenazada por el discutido intento de suicidio de Wentz al ingerir una sobredosis del sedante Ativan. El bajista dijo en una entrevista para la revista Rolling Stone que tiene una fascinación con los suicidios de Elliot Smith e Ian Curtis. El título de la canción "7 minutes in heaven (atavan halen)" está basada en su intento de suicidio.

El 6 de Febrero del 2007 lanzaron su nuevo álbum, Infinity on High, con This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race como single de presentación y posteriormente editaron Thnks Fr Th Mmrs como segundo sencillo y The Take Over, The Break's Over como el tercero. *FdS!

Controversia

La banda recibió fuertes criticas por parte de los miembros de The Killers en una entrevista realizada por NME.com:

El guitarrista de The Killers Dave Keuning opino sobre las bandas emo: "Todas esas bandas, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, solo están influenciadas por Blink 182 y alguna otra más. ¿Como puede eso ser una buena cosa?", mientras que el cantante Brandon Flowers dijo: "Emo, o punk-pop como desees llamarlo, es peligroso."

En otra entrevista con la misma revista Brandon Flowers siguio con sus criticas:

"No comprendes lo que podrías conseguir vosotros mismos, con Fall Out Boy, y qué clase de impacto podría tener de una manera que realmente no deseas."

"Culturalmente, si consigue ser tan grande como es en América (EEUU), podría cambiar una generación entera de gente que crece aquí. No deseamos tener aversión contra nadie, y todavía no hemos conocido a Fall Out Boy, pero hay una criatura dentro de mí que desea batir todas esas bandas hasta la muerte. Apenas todos entran al embudo feliz del emo y cada uno lo ama sin pensar.

Andrew John Hurley nació el 31 de Mayo de 1980 en Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Es el baterista de la banda de Pop Punk estadounidense Fall Out Boy

Andy se unió a Fall Out Boy en su álbum debut "Take This To Your Grave", es la cuarta banda en la que estado junto con Pete Wentz

A pesar de su apariencia de niño, Hurley se considera un chico problemático que doblaba grabaciones de Van Halen, tomaba mucho licor, fumaba hierba en el baño de su mamá y no obedecía la autoridad. Incluso orinó en latas de Mountain Dew para no tener que detenerse mientras tocaba "Final Fantasy" en el sótano.

-Andy es "Straight Edge" (sXe)lo cual es una forma de vida para los que lo practican, que consiste en no hacer uso de drogas en general.

-En 1995 Andy se convirtio en vegano después de involucrarse an la escena hardcore.

-Fue baterista en diferentes bandas de Chicago, tales como: Racetraitor, Milwaukee's Global Scam y Kill the Monkey Friends. En 1999 tocó la batería en el final EP de Vegan Reich.

-Mas tarde, Andy comenzó una banda de emo-pop llamada "Project Rocket", con quien sería el futuro bajista de Spitalfield, T.J. Minnich.

-Luego experimentó el estilo punk-garaje con Mani M-ha Asaam Sta-fi (cantante de Racetraitor) y con el guitarrista de Since By Man (Kevin Herwig). El grupo se llamó "The Kill Pill".

-También fue el baterista de la banda "Culture of Violence", con el bajista de Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz y Tim Miller AKA "Straightedge Flames" AKA "STIXXX".

Andy en estos momentos esta en proceso de crear un comic con dos amigos (Tylor y Matt).Ellos mostraron su idea, el concepto y el titulo a Letterbomb studios. Joseph Mark Trohman (1 de septiembre de 1984) es el guitarrista principal de la banda con el genero pop-punk de chicago Fall Out Boy.

Joe nació en Hollywood, Florida de padres Americanos judíos y asistió a la escuela hebrea. Su padre es un cardiólogo. Trohman creció en Russell del sur, al este de Cleveland, Ohio, vivió allí durante 12 años, tocó el trombón en la banda de la escuela hasta que empezara con la guitarra luego en sus años de secundaria. Se fue a Winnetka, IL, un suburbio de Chicago cuando él tenía 12 años. Asistió Colegio de Washburne, donde formó parte de varias bandas por diversión. Después de Washburne, asistió al Nuevo Instituto de Municipio de Trier. Durante estos años en el instituto formó parte de la audiofrecuencia el club visual, Nueva Red de Trier, así como tocó brevemente bajo en Arma Angelus con Pete Wentz como vocal.

Trohman fundó fall out boy con Pete Wentz. Ellos dos ya estaban cansados de la escena endurecida (hardcore punk) en la que habían participado haciendo parte de varias bandas en el área de Chicago, y quisieron empezar una más banda "pop-influenced". Trohman encontró a Patrick Stump en la Librería de Fronteras después de hablar de su gusto en común por la banda Neurosis.

Vida
Wentz nació en Willmette, Illinois, un suburbio de Chicago, Illinois. Asistió a New Trier High School and North Shore Country Day School donde era un jugador estatal de fútbol su numero era 12. Luego de graduarse de la secundaria en 1997, asistía a la Universidad DePaul, en la que estudiaba ciencias políticas, pero se retiro un semestre antes de graduarse para dedicarse de lleno a la música.Actualmente tiene 3 perros cuyo nombres son Pandora, Marley, y Hemingway. Su actual novia es Ashlee Simpson.

Carrera
Wentz estuvo envuelto primeramente en la escena hardcore punk de Chicago, hasta el punto de formar parte de algunas bandas a finales de los años 1990s. Entre estas bandas están First Born, Arma Angelus, donde era el vocalista, (junto a Tim McIlrath, de Rise Against), que se desintegro en 2004. También formó parte de Yellow Road Priest, Racetraitor y otras bandas relativamente desconocidas. En el 2004, Arma Angelus, la banda donde era vocalista dio su último espectáculo. Paso a formar parte de la banda Fall Out Boy, fundada por su amigo de toda la vida Joe Trohman, de la cual forman parte además Patrick Stump y Andy Hurley,y en la que él es el bajista. En 2002, Fall Out Boy lanzó un EP llamado Fall Out Boy/Project Rocket Split EP, poco después, en 2003 la banda sacó Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend con Uprising Records. Este álbum fue digitalmente arreglado luego del segundo disco completo que lanzo FOB, Take This To your Grave. Precisamente en 2003, Wentz y sus compañeros Island Records, lanzando con ellos un EP acústico, llamado My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue en 2004.

Despuès de My Heart Will.. salió, en el 2005, el tercer álbum de esta agrupaciòn From Under The Cork Tree, albúm que se posicionó en el lugar #9 en la lista de Billboard 200. Wentz escribiò su primer sencillo Sugar We're Going Down que estuvo posicionado en el #8 en Billboard Hot 100. En febrero del 2007 lanzaron su cuarto álbum Infinity On High. el sencillo This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race estuvo posicionado en el #2 en U.S Hot 100.

Otros proyectos
Wentz escribió un libro titulado The Boy With the Thorn In His Side, una historia basada en pesadillas que tenía en su infancia. El titulo hace referencia a una canción del CD de The Smiths, The Queen Is Dead. Tiene también otro libro titulado Rainy Day Kids, que se pensó saldría en Febrero 14, 2006, pero ha sido pospuesto ya que al parecer, no está conforme con algunos materiales. Será lanzado en 2007. Esta trabajando junto William Beckett de The Academy Is, en otro libro. Posee una compañía de llamada Clandestine Industries, la cual distribuye libros, ropa y otros articulos. Además, es dueño de su propio sello, llamado Decaydance Records, que ha firmado contratos con varias bandas, incluyendo: Panic! at the Disco, October Fall, Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, Cobra Starship, Lifetime and The Cab. El logo de esta compañía es el tatuaje que Wentz tine en su pelvis, el tattoo on his pelvis, el Bartskull. También es dueño de una productora cinematografica llamada Bartskull Films, cuyo lanzamiento principal fue el DVD Release the Bats, donde Wentz, sus compañeros de FOB y otros amigos son los protagonistas. Se está trabajando en una secuela.Todos los año la revista people realiza una lista de las 50 personas mas lindas del mundo y el ocupa el puesto numero 11.
